The Environmental Protection Agency of Kosovo (AMMK), in cooperation with the Environmental Protection Agency of Sweden (Swedish EPA) through the project supported by the Swedish Embassy in Pristina, has launched the campaign focused on raising awareness for the protected areas of Kosovo and in particular for national parks.
As announced by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, this initiative aims to highlight the importance of protecting these natural treasures and provide data and facts about these protected natural values.
“Kosovo is a country with extraordinary landscapes and ecosystems that includes mountains, forests, rivers and magnificent lakes, with a biodiversity that deserves attention and care. Protected nature areas in Kosovo are habitats of a large number of species of flora and fauna, and represent natural heritage with unique values. National parks represent the most precious ecosystems of our nature and have the highest level of protection (category II according to the IUCN),” the announcement states.
