The National Audit Office (NAO) has launched a performance audit on the topic “Management of the Renewable Energy Fund”, which is part of the Annual Audit Plan for the period 2024/2025. The audit covers the System, Transmission and Market Operator (KOSTT), the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), the Ministry of Economy (MOE) and aims to assess the efficiency of management, monitoring and implementation of measures for the production of energy from renewable sources.
According to the NAO, Kosovo, as a signatory to the Energy Community Treaty, has set objectives for increasing the production of energy from renewable sources and has created support schemes for investments in this area.
“However, there are challenges related to the functioning and effectiveness of these schemes. Therefore, through this audit, the NAO aims to assess the roles and performance of responsible institutions in implementing obligations and policies, integrating renewable energy into the system and developing a transparent and sustainable market”, the announcement states.
