The Vetëvendosje movement prefers that regular parliamentary elections be held in the fall of this year. In the ruling party they say that the opposition can no longer postpone the elections ineffectively, therefore in today’s meeting of the president Vjosa Osmani with the representatives of the political parties, the date of the elections should be set between autumn and the beginning of next year.
MP of LVV, Armend Muja in an interview for KosovaPress says that the European Union must take very seriously Serbia’s refusal to implement the Brussels Basic Agreement and the Ohrid annex, which according to him was also proven by the statement of the Serbian Prime Minister, Milosh Vucevic. Speaking about the international pressure for the establishment of the Association, he emphasizes that Kosovo will implement its obligations, but always in accordance with the country’s Constitution and when there is an objective plan for the sequencing of the agreement. Meanwhile, he also talks about the possibility of salary increases in the public sector before the new parliamentary elections.
According to him, it is necessary to withdraw the letter of the former Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Bërnabic, which she sent to the EU, where it is emphasized that Serbia will not implement parts of the Brussels agreement.
He says that the EU emissary for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, should bring an objective plan for sequencing the agreement.
As for the request of the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, to send the draft statute of the Association to the Constitutional Court, Muja says that Kosovo should in principle be ready to implement its part of the obligations in the dialogue, but this should be done only within the framework of the full implementation of the agreement also on the part of Serbia.
In addition, Muja says that based on the Law on Public Finance Management, salary increases can be made alongside economic growth.
But according to him, the current government has the mindset like previous governments to increase salaries on the eve of the elections.
Otherwise, the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, today holds a meeting with leaders of political parties to determine the date of the general elections in Kosovo.
On Tuesday, the president of the country, Vjosa Osmani, met with the US ambassador, Jeffrey Hovenier, whom he informed about the start of the phase of consultations with the leaders of the political parties regarding the regular elections.
