The head of the Parliamentary Group of Vetëvendosje, Mimoza Kusari-Lila said that the US Department of State’s report has omissions and some inaccuracies. According to her, the report over the years has shown problems in the functioning of justice. In the plenary session, she compared the contents of the previous reports and the last year, where she said that the government has inherited problems.
The head of the Parliamentary Group of Vetëvendosje, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, stated that the 2023 report talks about corruption in the government based on the large number of criminal reports but not about indictments.
Further, she said that this report over the years has had contents that have shown problems with the functioning of justice.
She added that the 2023 report states that the government took credible steps to investigate and prosecute officials who may have committed human rights abuses.
Likewise, Kusari-Lila emphasized that the Ombudsperson institution, from the 136 complaints it previously received, has already dropped to 40 for ill-treatment by the Police.
Regarding freedom of speech and the media, the head of the parliamentary group of Vetëvendosje added that the latest report does not mention the fact that journalists are not allowed by media owners to report on government corruption.
