In memory of Xhevdet Peci, our boxing champion
I was saddened to learn of the death of Xhevdet Peci, a prominent Kosovo boxer during the 1970s and early 1980s. Condolences to the Peci family, his friends and all the boxing colleagues of Xhevdet, of the golden generation of the UN “Prishtina”.
Born on April 17, 1955 in the village of Zhazhë in Mitrovica, Xhevdet Peci would become one of the most trophy-winning boxing athletes in Kosovo and the Balkans. Xhevdet Peci was well known for his strong punches and irresistible blows, with which he knocked out opponents. He managed to be declared four times champion of the former Yugoslavia in individual competition and five times in team competition as well as twice Balkan champion. With his rich career, boxer Xhevdet Peci has entered the history of boxing and sports in Kosovo, where he will be remembered for the trophies won, the contribution to the development of boxing in Kosovo, for his knockout punches, and even for ” knockout” of the referee who did him injustice.
May the memory of Xhevdet Peci be strong, as was his life as a boxer!
