The Government of Kosovo has decided to declare July 11, Remembrance Day for the genocide in Srebrenica. The executive, who observed a minute of silence in honor of the victims of this genocide, made a series of decisions at Wednesday’s meeting. The government appointed a part of the board of the company “Trepça”, meanwhile it decided to start the tendering procedures for the construction of new generation capacities from the wind and for providing support for capacities up to 150 megawatts. In addition, the executive distributed over 21 million euros in damages to the American company “Contour Global”, after the loss in the Court of International Arbitration for breach of contract.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the announcement of July 11 as a commemoration day for the genocide in Srebrenica is a noble and appropriate action so that the genocide is never forgotten and never repeated, neither in Bosnia and Herzegovina, nor in Kosovo, nor anywhere else in our region and in the world.
In front of the government cabinet, Kurti also boasted about the work of the executive in the first half of 2024. Speaking about the yield of wheat this year, he said that the expectations are that wheat production will increase by 150 thousand tons. According to him, this will satisfy the internal demand for consumption, without the need for imports.
The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli said that the construction of new generating capacities from the wind will increase energy capacities up to 150 megawatts.
According to her, this project will adhere to all international standards.
In addition to these, the government also approved the new regulation for the selection procedures of directors, deputy directors, teachers, secretaries in educational institutions throughout the territory of Kosovo.
The Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, said that this regulation will create an efficient system for the recruitment of these positions.
At today’s meeting, the executive also approved the decision to appoint a part of the Supervisory Board of the Central Public Enterprise “Trepça”. Mentor Berisha and four members, Merita Gashi, Sadie Gashi, Alban Krasniqi and Fadil Bejta, were appointed as the chairman, while it was promised that the competition for the other four members of this board will soon be opened.
According to the head of the Government, they will clarify the issue of the representation of workers on board in accordance with the law. In the meantime, the competition will be opened for other members, encouraging the application especially of minorities.
Also, the government gave the green light to the decision on expropriations that are affected by the realization of the Memorial Complex in Reçak, as well as the expansion of the Kijeva-Zahaq national road.
