Kurti: Russia is fueling tensions in the north as it falters in Ukraine

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has expressed his concern that Russia is inciting tensions in the north, due to the stagnation of the war in Ukraine.

Kurti has said he is concerned that the tense situation could escalate to Vladimir Putin’s advantage, as Russian and Serbian forces have conducted 104 joint military exercises in 2021, “The Guardian” wrote on Tuesday.

“Our concern [is] that the removal of these barricades cannot exclude the possibility of casualties. And that is why we want to be as careful as possible to make sure that there will be no destabilization and that peace and security will be in place. However, we cannot allow the violation of legality and constitutionality forever. Therefore, this must end, the sooner, the better,” said Kurti.

According to “The Guardian”, Kurti has stated that the EU and the US have agreed that the barricades should be removed, but that they are also worried about how this can be used and abused by Belgrade.
