The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, began his participation in the Security Conference in Munich, Germany by meeting with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Basso.
According to a Government communiqué, they discussed the cooperation between the Government and the EBRD, the projects that are being implemented with the support of the EBRD, as well as new opportunities for cooperation.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked the president of the EBRD, Basso, for the continuous support that this institution has given to Kosovo over the years. He added that in EBRD, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo sees an important partner in achieving its goals in sustainable development, especially in the field of transport, digitalization, energy and the private sector.
Emphasizing the economic development and quality democracy in the country, Prime Minister Kurti singled out the positive trend of economic growth in the last two years and the improvement by 20 positions in the Corruption Index of Transparency International, by 17 positions in the Reporters Without Borders index for freedom of the press and ranking in first place for the second time in a row in the Western Balkans in terms of the rule of law according to the World Justice Project.
Prime Minister Kurti also informed President Basso about Kosovo’s application to the Council of Europe in May last year, as well as to the European Union in December 2022.
President Basso congratulated Prime Minister Kurti and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for the success in the fight against corruption. She expressed the EBRD’s commitment to do even more in support of Kosovo, with emphasis in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency and the private sector.
