“The 25th anniversary of KosovaPress is being marked with many international agreements”, said the president of KosovaPress News Agency, Skender Krasniqi. In marking the quarter century of KosovaPress, Krasniqi spoke about the challenges, work, collaborations, and memberships in the news agencies of Europe and the Balkans. He told the participants that with the membership in the network of the largest agencies, ABNA-SE and EANA, much bigger doors were opened for the independent agency and for Kosovo.
“Do the necessary every day – go to work, do the daily work” and “the possible – when you finish these, see what you can do more”, these are the two mottos that, according to Krasniqi, KosovaPress has achieved success so far.
The post-war period, survival, stabilization and increased development at the regional and world level are some of the challenges mentioned by the president of KosovaPress, Skender Krasniqi.
“25 or almost 24 years of KosovaPress’ work as an Independent News Agency may seem a little to some, but for all of us and those who worked at KosovaPress, considering the war, post-war, survival, stabilization and growth, development at regional, European, and world level, have been extraordinary challenges. This is because of our great goal. 1. Increasing the quantity, quality, speed and impartiality of news, as well as 2. Financial sustainability, taking into account continuous investments in accordance with the needs of the time”, said Krasniqi.
While thanking all colleagues and clients for the extraordinary work for more than two decades, Krasniqi said that KosovaPress has managed to maintain media independence.
“We feel very proud that we celebrate the 25th birthday of KosovaPress with many international agreements with world and European news agencies such as Reuters, ANSA Italy, LUSA Portugal, ANA-MPA Greek, Anadolu Agency Turkey, BTA Bulgaria, ATA Albania etc, and we are in the process of signing agreements with many other news agencies as well. With this, we are contributing to the increase in the amount of news for the local media, but also to the increase in the information of the world, European and Balkan media about the events taking place in Kosovo, both in the economic aspect, as a great need of ours, as well as in the political, cultural and sports aspects”, he said in marking the 25th anniversary of KosovaPress.
In front of the ambassadors and media representatives from different countries, he emphasized that KosovaPress is contributing to the real information of the world about Kosovo and the region.
Furthermore, Krasniqi also mentioned the membership of KosovaPress in the network of News Agencies of the Balkans ABNA-SE, and Europe-EANA in September 2022.
“With the membership of KosovaPress in the network of ABNA-SE Balkan News Agencies in 2017 where we are 12 Agencies from 12 countries and in the network of European News Agencies EANA in September 2022 where we are 33 News Agencies from 33 countries, KosovaPress and the Republic of Kosovo in general, including the media and institutions, were opened much bigger ways. The reason is that in the media aspect we are offering our media the newest products, in line with the times because the development and opportunities that Kosovo has will be presented more through the cooperation that KosovaPress has with these agencies”, he said on the 25th birthday of KosovaPress.
Since 2018, the KosovaPress News Agency, as Krasniqi said, is being led by two successful women, Suzana Hashani-Rakovica and Merita Gashi.
KosovaPress News Agency will also host the international conference “Freedom of speech borders”, in honor of the 25th anniversary of its establishment, which will be held on Thursday in Prishtina.
This conference will bring together in our capital more than 20 world news agencies from all over Europe and the Balkans. Members of the largest European network of news agencies EANA (www.newsalliance.org) as well as that of South-East Europe ABNA SEE (www.abnase.com), networks where KosovaPress is a member, will be present at this event.
