Kosovo and EBRD with energy efficient agreement for Prizren

The Minister of Finance, Labor and Transfers, Hekuran Murati and the Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Alain Pilloux in the week of spring meetings in Marrakesh have signed the Agreement on Energy Efficiency for Prizren. This agreement, worth 6 million 315 thousand euros, of which 20% are grants, aims to invest in the Energy Efficiency of Public Buildings in Prizren.

A press release states that on the occasion of signing the agreement, Minister Murati praised the ongoing cooperation with the EBRD, as an important partner for advancing Kosovo’s energy transition and sustainable economic development.

For his part, EBRD Vice President Alain Pilloux said that for a country that until recently could not imagine the future of energy without lignite, Kosovo’s progress could not be greater than that. He also stressed that Kosovo is already working intensively on a model that every country should follow, namely the combination of energy efficiency with renewable energy.

The project funded by this agreement envisages the implementation of efficiency measures in 100 municipal facilities, including kindergartens, schools and primary health care centers. Proposed efficiency measures include upgrading and replacing heating systems, thermal insulation of buildings, and installation of energy-efficient windows and doors.
