The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, said that the presence of Tony Blair at the 25th anniversary of the Liberation of Kosovo completes the significance of this marked date.
Konjufca wrote that the former British Prime Minister is a great friend of Kosovo with whom he talked about those events of 1999, that marked a turning point for the fate of the Albanian people in Kosovo, that produced great effects as far as the international aspect is concerned, viewed from the positions of justice, humanity, security, rights, values and Western strategic interests.
“The support and tireless effort of Mr. Blair and Great Britain were among the key factors in getting NATO involved in and supporting our just and liberating war against Serbia and its monstrous crimes against the Albanian people in Kosovo. He is a symbol of the end of the fight to go to freedom. I thanked him for the visit and expressed my deep gratitude for his outstanding and continuous contribution, stressing that his arrival in the Republic of Kosovo is joy in the hearts of every Albanian.”
According to him, Blair has expressed his support for the Republic of Kosovo, for its path of integration, comprehensive progress and contribution to regional security and stability.
