The Kosovo Law Institute (KLI) during the presentation of the report on the topic “Code of Conduct for Deputies”, has announced that this draft proposed by the Commission for Legislation fails to establish the will and political actions, for raising the standards for ethics of MPs in the Assembly of Kosovo.
The senior researcher of KLI, Naim Jakaj, said that the Committee for Legislation failed to send and draft the Code of Conduct in a plenary session, even though there was enough time of one year and nine months to draft this code.
He added that the Code of Conduct of MPs aims to create a political culture, taking into account correctness, transparency and honesty, which this draft code proposed by the legislation committee does not aim at.
IKL proposes that the composition of the Ethics Council be equal between the majority and the opposition.
KLI has mentioned several cases of non-parliamentary language in the Assembly, of which it was from Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Beslimi who used sexist language, the July 23 session, from an LDK MP to the chairman of the Committee for Legislation and in the symbolic actions of opposition. /A.
