Irregularities in the recruitment process, the Ministry of Finance gets sued

The Group for Legal and Political Studies has sued the Ministry of Finance, Labor and Transfers for the job vacancy competition for the position of the Secretary General. The lawsuit was submitted today to the Basic Court in Pristina, where GLPS says that this ministry has developed recruitment procedures without respecting the legal obligation that the recruitment phases be monitored by civil society

Liridon Salihi from the Center for Strategic Litigation said that this case has previously been sent to the Independent Oversight Council for the Kosovo Civil Service (IOCSC).

“The Government has proceeded with the appointment of the person to the position of Secretary General in the Ministry of Finance, Labor and Transfers, and taking into account all the facts of the case, the center, with the authorization of all civil society organizations that make up the CorrWatch Initiative, today filed the lawsuit with the Basic Court in Pristina, Administrative Department, where it has requested from the court to declare the right guaranteed to civil society through the Law on Public Officials, with Article 48, paragraph 7, which provision gives civil society the right to monitor all recruitment processes for high management positions”, he stated.

At a press conference, Salihi said that they have requested from this court to oblige the Ministry of Finance and all public institutions to be monitored by civil society in cases of such job vacancies.
