Institutions urged to develop employment policies for non-majority communities

The NGO Network for the Advancement of the Rights of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Communities has called for concrete actions from institutions to combat discrimination and the challenges faced by these communities in Kosovo. Through a public statement, it called for respect for human rights, with a special focus on those of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities.

The spokesperson for this NGO network, Kiki Rrahmani, said that institutions should develop employment policies for these communities.

She said that last year alone they had identified over 70 cases of discrimination against these three non-majority communities. According to her, these cases highlight the need for an immediate and sustainable response from institutions to prevent their recurrence.

“These cases highlight the need for an immediate and sustainable response from institutions to prevent their recurrence. Our network calls for the effective implementation of the law against discrimination, ensuring equal opportunities for every citizen regardless of ethnicity. We need investments in education and support programs to ensure that children of communities have more equal access to quality education. Development of employment policies, inclusion of employment quotas and programs to enable the economic positioning of communities”, she said.
