The Inspectorate of Prishtina in cooperation with the Kosova Police in the last four weeks, have issued about 200 fines for illegal taxis. Meanwhile, during the last four months, they have issued about 500 fines.
As for the value of fines, which range from 50 to 500 euros, the director of the Prishtina Inspectorate, Florian Dushi, hopes that there will be changes in the legislation and that the fines for this type of illegal activity will be even more severe.
Dushi told KosovaPress that the fines were imposed on regular taxis but that were without a work permit, buses that often do not respect their schedule and enter the city center to reach their destinations more easily, minibuses and everything that the inspectorate considers to be operating without the permission of the competent bodies of the capital.
According to him, inflation has also included these fines, therefore it seems as if they are not effective, due to the fact that despite the fact that the inspectorate is issuing fines, illegal taxis, minibuses and buses are continuing their illegal activity.
He added that the confiscation of vehicles, whether buses, cars or minibuses for a longer period of time, is in the discussion phase, which will have a positive effect on putting this issue in order.
