The Kosovo Institute for Justice has called the decision taken by the Ministry of Finance to double the price of property tax for the country’s citizens unfair.
Researchers of this institute have said that based on the Law on properties, a legal provision enables the government to evaluate the properties in 2025.
Thus, IKD asks the Government to suspend the decision on the increase of property tax until 2025.
The researcher at IKD, Naim Jakaj emphasizes for KosovaPress that the Government of Kosovo can suspend this decision until 2025, since according to him the country has gone through various crises, and this decision is unreasonable.
According to Jakaj, the idea of the Minister of Finance for waiving property tax up to 100 euros can only be done through the amendment of the Property Law.
