Ibishi: Kosovo must buy new weapons

Serbia is arming itself more and more every day not only with defensive weapons but also with offensive weapons. Meanwhile, it has recently proposed the return of mandatory military service. In this situation, Kosovo also needs to purchase weapons, not for offensive purposes but to produce peace and security in the country. This is what the security expert, Nuredin Ibishi, has assessed, who said that the Ministry of Defense should be equipped with all the weapons so that Kosovo in the future is ready to defend the country’s sovereignty.

In an interview for KosovaPress, Ibishi also mentioned the recent attacks which are being repeated in the north of Mitrovica. He emphasized that even though there are fights between Serbian citizens, they should be prevented by the Kosovo Police because they can raise tensions in the country.

Ibishi has also commented on Serbia’s proposal to restore mandatory military service, while adding that the Serbian state has bought weapons from various sources, but that it lacks the human factor, and that it itself has accepted such a thing.

The throwing of the grenade in the north of Mitrovica, according to the security expert, Ibishi, even though it was a situation between Serbs, has the effect of raising the tension in the country.

Also, Ibishi has said that Serbia has proposed the return of military service because no Serbian citizen is ready to sacrifice himself like in the time of Milosevic. He emphasized that Serbia has assessed the situation and therefore requested additional troops for the army.

Meanwhile, as far as the armament of the Kosovo army is concerned, Ibishi said that Kosovo should have been equipped with a missile system a long time ago.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense of Kosovo has announced that in addition to 246 anti-tank missiles of the “Javelin” type, it has requested the purchase of other weapons from the USA. /A.Drenica/
