The US ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, has stated that the US position has not changed regarding the association.
“The US position has been clear. We believe that an association of Serb majority municipalities should be consistent with Kosovo’s current Constitution”, said Hovenier emphasizing that the association “should not be a third layer of government, that there should not have executive authorities”.
After a conversation with students in Mitrovica, Hovenier told the media that they do not want a ‘Republika Srpska’ and do not want something that has a negative impact on the functioning of the state of Kosovo.
