The US Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, has stated that the commitment of the United States to the people of Kosovo remains as ironclad and as firm as it has ever been.
However, he added that “we are facing some challenges with the current government of Kosovo which have affected the quality of our partnership”.
“Many of you will see media reports about some differences between the United States and other members of the International Community with some of the actions and policy choices made by the current government of Kosovo headed by prime minister Kurti. As I said in an interview last week we are facing certain challenges with the current government of Kosovo, and those challenges have absolutely affected the quality of our partnership. As the Department of State spokesperson expressed just earlier this month, the United States government hope remains that the government of Kosovo will quote “Return to close and constructive engagement with the United States, with the EU, with NATO, and Kosovo’s other close International Partners”, unquote. Now that said, well, some of our areas of cooperation with the current government of Kosovo remain less positive than we had hoped. The commitment of the United States of America to the people of Kosovo is as ironclad and as firm as it has ever been”, said Hovenier.
Hovenier made these comments after signing the agreement with USAID in the amount of 34.5 million dollars.
