Kosovo women are being discriminated in decision-making, and very few of them are represented in the public sphere. Two of the main challenges they continue to face are the slow pace of law enforcement and the presence of domestic violence. The pandemic brought even more difficulties, where many of them have been fired, and even forced to close their businesses. Gender equality organizations are seeking their representation at the negotiating table. The Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti himself claims that their situation is not good.
This was said at the consultative meeting on “Economic empowerment as a precondition for the prevention of domestic violence and gender-based violence”, organized by the Agency for Gender Equality within the Office of the Prime Minister, in cooperation with the Kosovo Center for Gender Studies.
