A high-level delegation of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), headed by the Governor, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, Deputy Governor, Mr. Cakaj, Non-Executive Member of the Board, Mr. Kryeziu, and other collaborators, is participating in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), which are being held in Washington D.C., USA.
The CBK representatives will hold meetings with senior officials of the IMF and the WB, to discuss the latest financial and economic developments, as well as future expectations.
According to the announcement, during the meetings, which will last from 22 to 26 October, Governor Ismaili will present the main developments and priorities in the financial sector, the results of the implementation of programs and professional technical assistance, as well as the needs for further technical support.
“In the framework of this official visit to the USA, the CBK delegation will hold bilateral meetings with the heads of the IMF, the World Bank, the US Treasury, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation, as well as with representatives of the central banks of Italy, France and the governors of partner central banks”, reads the announcement, reports KosovaPress.
During this visit, Governor Ismaili will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Vice President of the EBRD, Mr. Bowman, regarding facilitating access to finance for women.
The CBK delegation will participate in meetings with leaders and senior officials of financial institutions to strengthen cooperation in areas of common interest, participating in about 30 activities and bilateral and multilateral meetings.
The annual IMF and WB meetings bring together central bankers, finance and development ministers, parliamentarians, private sector leaders, civil society representatives and academics to discuss issues of global importance, such as economic prospects, the fight against poverty and economic development.
