The Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, received in an official meeting, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the EC, Dunja Mijatovic, nn which occasion they discussed the reforms initiated by the Ministry of Justice.
Minister Haxhiu informed Commissioner Mijatovic about the work done so far in the framework of justice reform, as well as policies that advance human rights, the actions taken to address the institutional domestic violence and crimes committed during the war in Kosovo, as well as comprehensive work in the framework of the transitional justice strategy.
Minister Haxhiu also mentioned the Civil Code as an important document in the advancement of human rights, and showed the importance of Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe for the country and its citizens, in which case, among other things, this would affect the improvement of the functioning of the justice system, creating more appropriate conditions for the implementation of best practices and consequently raising the standards of respect for human rights.
