‘Guxo’ and ‘Alternativa’ demand a pre-election coalition, VV still without an answer

‘Guxo’ and ‘Alternativa’ demand a pre-election coalition, VV still without an answer

Three days before the end of the legal deadline for pre-election coalitions, ‘Guxo’ and ‘Alternativa’ parties are demanding a pre-election coalition with Vetëvendosje. The current political partners who are in power have defined the way of cooperation in the elections which will be held early next year. The request for a pre-election coalition has not yet been answered by Vetëvendosje, despite the two meetings of the VV chairman, at the same time the prime minister, Albin Kurti with the chairperson of ‘Guxo’, Donika Gërvalla, and that of ‘Alternativa’, Mimoza Kusari-Lila. The VV did not even answer KosovaPress’ questions about whether there will be a pre-election coalition with ‘Guxo’ and ‘Alternativa’ or whether they will only be included in the electoral list in the February 9, 2025 elections, as in the 2021 elections.

The Chairperson of Alternativa, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, tells KosovaPress that they are interested in having an official pre-election coalition with Vetëvendosje.

According to her, in the last two elections, ‘Alternativa’ was part of the VV list and that now is the moment to have a pre-election coalition based on political weight.

In this regard, Kusari-Lila, who is also the head of the VV Parliamentary Group in the Assembly, adds that she had a meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, but that they have not yet received a concrete answer.

On the other hand, the member of the Presidency of the ‘Guxo’ party, Haxhi Avdyli, tells KosovaPress that they are ready to continue cooperation with Vetëvendosje, but in the following days it will be precisely defined whether there will be a pre-election coalition or inclusion in the Vetëvendosje list.

Meanwhile, the political analyst, Albinot Maloku, says that if Vetëvendosje forms a pre-election coalition with the ‘Guxo’ and ‘Alternativa’ parties, it would show respect for equality regardless of their political power.

Otherwise, according to him, the two parties would only become servants of VV and Albin Kurti, and the seriousness of the two political subjects would be lost.

However, according to him, it is more convenient for the VV not to have a pre-election coalition, but to include the two small parties only in the election list.

Political entities have until Friday to declare to the Central Election Commission (CEC), the pre-election coalitions for the February 9, 2025 elections.

In the 2021 elections, ‘Guxo’ and ‘Alternativa’ competed on the list of Vetëvendosje. VV, together with ‘Guxo’ and ‘Alternativa’ are current governing partners. /E.Zeqiri/
