Numerous graffiti with incitement to hatred, written on the northern corner of the main bridge of the Ibri in Mitrovica, provoke the Albanian citizens, especially those who visit this bridge every day.
‘Ratko Mladic, hero of the people’, ‘We will break down the wall’, ‘Kosovo is the heart of Serbia’, written in the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet,
these are just some of the inscriptions, which Albanian citizens say should be removed as soon as possible by the institutions, because they are provocative, disturbing and incite hatred.
Asllan Zogu, a citizen from the north of Mitrovica, tells KosovaPress that the municipal institutions, in which there are already Albanians in that part, but also in the central ones, should erase these graffiti as soon as possible, because they are provocative.
Even Burhan Nuhi, another Mitrovica resident from the north of this city, has called such graffiti anti-Albanian, disturbing and an open provocation.
In the meantime, Bardhyl Dobroshi, director of the non-governmental organization “Futja dje”, in Mitrovica,
this organization, which stands out for its beautiful murals with messages for peace, announced that since the graffiti is written on marble, it is better to clean and erase it with water.
According to him, sometimes color only spoils things.
On the other hand, Veton Elshani, acting director of the police for the northern region, said that the police have opened many cases for such inscriptions throughout the northern part of the country.
He added that so far no one has been arrested for these graffiti on the Ibri bridge.
KosovaPress has tried for two days in a row to contact the mayor of the municipality of Northern Mitrovica, Erden Atiq, about this issue, but he has not been in the municipality.
These graffitis appeared in this country more than a year ago, while similar inscriptions can be seen in different locations throughout the north, which are supposed to have been written after the increased tensions between Kosovo and Serbia. /KosovaPress/
