Government’s promise to vaccinate 60% of the population, (un)feasible

The management of the COVID-19 pandemic is listed as the first priority in the government plan for 2021-2025, and in order to bring the coronavirus under control, the Government of Kosovo aims to immunize 60 percent of the population by the end of this year. But this promise of the Kurti Government is being considered impossible as Kosovo has so far only received donations of vaccine doses from COVAX and the EU. But there is hope that if an agreement is reached on the purchase of anti-COVID vaccines, this 60 percent can also be realized.

The member of the Parliamentary Committee on Health, Bekim Haxhiu, says that since Kosovo still does not have a contract for the purchase of vaccines, it cannot vaccinate 60 percent of citizens until the end of the year only based on donations.
