Unjustifiable delays, delays in making decisions and unfair budget allocation are considered to be characterizing the cooperation between the central and local levels of the Municipality of Gjakova.
The mayor of this municipality, Ardian Gjini, in an interview for KosovaPress, assesses the cooperation with the central level as not good, for which he hopes that this year the government will take the affairs related to the municipality more seriously.
Meanwhile, as the vice president of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), he believes that during this year Kosovo will go to early elections, for which he expects “the best possible results for the AAK”.
Among other things, during the interview, Gjini mentions that the Municipality of Gjakova has spent nearly 90 percent of the planned budget for 2023, while he says that “something like this has never happened before”.
He mentions some of the most complex projects realized or started during 2023, for which he promises that this year will also be characterized by capital investments for various projects.
For KosovaPress, Gjini emphasizes that unnecessary delays, delays in communication and decision-making from the central level are causing many difficulties.
Meanwhile, Gjini estimates that the year 2023 has been one of the most intense years ever in the Municipality of Gjakova, since according to him the final capital investment budget reaches over 17 million euros.
Among the biggest and most challenging projects, the first of Gjakova, Ardian Gjini mentions the works at the exit to Peja, the continuation of the Krena river bed in the upper part of the stream, the works at the city stadium, the transformation of the city center and others.
Among other things, Gjini emphasizes that even during this year, investments in various projects will continue, including the completion of the works at the exit to Peja, Reke te Keqe, the completion of the center, the second phase of the Llukas river and the fourth phase in the Krena river and several other projects.
Gjini considers that “even the year 2024 will be good”, as far as investments in this municipality are concerned.
Meanwhile, as the vice-president of AAK, Gjini estimates that according to the current possibilities and the political beliefs of the citizens, our country will go to snap elections this year.
From these elections, Gjini expects the best results for AAK.
In addition to these, the Municipality of Gjakova has decided that citizens will not enjoy the right of the remission of 100 euros for property tax, since it is considered that the losses will reach up to 2.4 million euros.
