During the performance of their duties and police activities, police officers from the Rapid Intervention Unit of the Border Police, today around 06:15, in Bube of Zubin Potok, have noticed suspicious movements of some vehicles.
In an attempt to stop and control the suspected vehicles, the police encountered armed resistance from suspected persons.
Finding themselves in such a situation, in order to protect themselves and bring the situation under control, the police officials responded to the attack with weapons and managed to arrest one of the suspects D.I., (1981), a Serb from Zubin Potok. During the exchange of fire, the police officers and the arrested were not injured.
During the control of the truck, 40 sheep were found, without documentation, suspected of being smuggled from Serbia to Kosovo. Two abandoned vehicles were also found, which are suspected to have been escorting the truck.
Relevant police units, including the PIK, came to the scene and the prosecutor was informed about the case.
A case has been initiated against the suspect for the two criminal offenses ‘Assault on an official person’ and ‘Smuggling of goods’.
The truck with the sheep was sent to the customs terminal, the two cars that were found at the scene were confiscated, whereas by the decision of the prosecutor, the suspect was taken to detention for 48 hours.
