EU: Any unilateral action that hinders freedom of movement must be stopped immediately

The spokesperson of the European Union for matters of foreign policy and security, Peter Stano, said that the EU is monitoring the situation in the north of Kosovo with concern. He stated that any uncoordinated action that endangers stability and hinders the freedom of movement of citizens should be stopped immediately. He has confirmed that the EU has invited Kosovo and Serbia to meet in Brussels and has emphasized that all open issues must be addressed through dialogue mediated by the European Union.

Stano has said that the focus should return to the comprehensive normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations, which according to him is essential for their respective European integration paths.

“The EU is monitoring the situation in the north of Kosovo with concern. All parties involved must remain calm and any uncoordinated and unilateral action that endangers stability and security on the ground and impedes the freedom of movement of all citizens must be stopped immediately. The only way to resolve disputes is through dialogue and negotiation. The EU has been and remains in close contact with Kosovo and Serbia to calm tensions, as well as in close coordination with EULEX, KFOR and international partners, and especially with the USA”, said the spokesperson of EU.

According to him, the proposal to postpone the implementation of reciprocity for license plates was made by the head of foreign and security policy, Josep Borrell, and fully supported by the United States of America.
