The statement of the president, Vjosa Osmani, about the lack of coordination in matters of membership in the European organization, has provoked reactions from the position and the opposition. While the ruling party denies any disagreement with the president, the opposition insists that the lack of coordination between institutions is harming foreign policy.
While Osmani has emphasized that she has not been informed about the letter sent to the Council of Ministers, the majority declare that it was more about technical issues, but adding that their relationship with the president is excellent.
The Vetëvendosje MP, Armend Muja, told KosovaPress that relations with the president are good, and that it is their duty to respect her mission.
Unlike the government, the opposition MPs say that there has been a constant lack of cooperation between the Kurti Government and the president. The MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo, Valentina Bunjaku-Rexhepi, while saying that there is a lack of coordination, added that President Osmani should play her constitutional role more strongly, so as not to fall into Kurti’s trap.
Pal Lekaj, MP of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, also says that there is a disagreement between the government and the president. According to him, their lack of coordination is causing damage to Kosovo.
On the other hand, Konjufca stated earlier that this is more about technical issues and not something intentional.
“I guessed that it could have happened because of the visit she had in the USA, where due to the distance, probably not every detail which would change every minute on the day of the vote that we had on the part of the Council of Ministers of CoE, it can be divided and coordinated”, he said.
Kosovo was not included in the agenda of the Council of Europe on May 16-17. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and French President Emmanuel Macron said in a letter that “there is a real risk that without decisive progress of the association, the application to the Council of Europe will not receive the necessary support”.
