Children killed during the war are commemorated with the lighting of 1133 candles

In the framework of marking the 15th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence, in addition to many other state activities, 1133 candles were lit in front of the National Theater of Kosovo, as was the number of children killed in the last war in Kosovo.

In marking the 15th anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence, heads of state and members of the government cabinet also took part.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti told the children who were present that the pain is deep but the happiness of the children overcomes everything.

“The sacrifice of our people is great, the wounds of the war are deep, the pain is endless, but there is no sorrow that your joy and happiness cannot overcome. When we see you, our hearts are full of joy” he said.

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, said that the loss of these children was the greatest sacrifice for our freedom.

“For each of us there is no greater joy than when we see the incredible potential that you have. Today we are here to commemorate the 1133 children who gave their lives so that today we can live free in our beloved country. The memory of them will live forever, because this was the biggest sacrifice for our freedom”, he added.
