Beqiri: The government’s focus was on the north, it forgot other sectors for the country’s development

The tensions in the north of Kosovo during the past year have also affected the economic aspect. The Government of Kosovo has focused only on that part of the country, ignoring the improvement of conditions for businesses and citizens. In fact, many visits from foreign companies have been canceled due to the poor security situation.

This is what the director of the Chamber of Trade and Industry Kosova, Zana Beqiri, said, who says that the year 2023 has not brought good results in the economic aspect, adding that the government has stalled in this direction.

In an interview for KosovaPress, Beqiri, while complaining about the lack of real cooperation between this institution and the government, says that the state should offer more support to businesses.

While he points out that even the economic growth predicted by the government is not real.

Beqiri says that from meetings with businesses, it has been understood that a large number of citizens are fleeing the country because of the general working conditions and not only because of the salary.

Meanwhile, Beqiri expresses dissatisfaction with the lack of cooperation between the business community and the government.

Speaking about the factors that have hit the economy of the country, Beqiri says that the measures of the EU against Kosovo have influenced the cancellation of the visits of various foreign companies.

She estimates that the state should support local production more, and should also focus more on the energy and agriculture sectors.

She points out that the liberalization of visas will affect businesses in terms of workers.

In the end, Beqiri wishes that this year will be as successful as possible for businesses.
