The Deputy Mayor of North Mitrovica Municipality, Katarina Axhanqiq, has said that in the last 15 days she has met twice with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, while unlike many Serbian politicians from the north and other parts of the country, who, as she said, , secretly meet him, she said that she does such a thing openly and publicly.
During an interview for KosovaPress, she announced that with Prime Minister Kurti, in addition to Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe (EC), they also talked about various topics that affect the improvement of the standard of living of the citizens of the north.
Axhanqiq called the successful petition for the removal of the Albanian mayors of the northern municipalities, and then the failure of the referendum in the north, high politics.
According to her, communication between local and central institutions is inevitable and must exist for the benefit of citizens.
Regarding Kosovo’s membership in the EC, she said that it is a right thing that should be done as soon as possible.
The Deputy Mayor of North Mitrovica emphasized that so far she has never been attacked by anyone because of her cooperation with the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, although she does not rule out such a thing in the future.
Speaking about the population census process, she said that statistics is a ruthless science and that the numbers show everything, therefore she invited the Serbian citizens of the north to respond positively to this process.
