Around 400 public buildings in Kosovo will be renovated by 2031 according to energy efficiency principles.
This follows the signing of an agreement on Friday between the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This agreement is worth 86 million euros, and it is co-financed by the Government of Kosovo, the EBRD, and as an investment grant of 20 million euros from the EU and the Kingdom of Denmark.
Part of the agreement signing ceremony was also the Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, who said that 50 million euros of this investment are loans from the EBRD.
According to him, the main beneficiaries of this project will be the citizens of the country.
“This agreement is further strengthened and multiplied by grants and additional support provided by other partner institutions, such as the EU or the Government of Denmark. This step directly affects the improvement of conditions for citizens who use the services from this investment. The idea is to make an investment in about 400 public buildings, so that they are insulated and efficiency measures are increased in them. The total value of the project is 86 million euros…The main objective that we aim to achieve through this cooperation is to improve energy efficiency, better conditions, energy saving and reduction of gas emissions”, said Murati.
