Abdixhiku pays homage at Rugova’s grave on the 17th anniversary of independence

The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, paid homage at the grave of former president Ibrahim Rugova on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence. Other members of the LDK also attended the ceremony, who honored Rugova’s figure and contribution to the formation of Kosovo as a state.
Abdixhiku emphasized the importance of Rugova’s vision for an independent and democratic Kosovo, appreciating his historical role in the process of Kosovo’s freedom and statehood, as well as his vision for an alliance with the West.

“Today, on the seventeenth anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kosovo, we honored the founding father of this republic, Ibrahim Rugova. Whose determination during the most difficult period of the people of Kosovo was an enlightenment , hope and motivation for the greatest Albanian movement for freedom, independence and democracy. On this 17th anniversary, we also honor all the martyrs, heroes of the KLA, the Jashari family, whose sacrifice stands in the cornerstones of this statehood, as well as honoring our allies,” said Abdixhiku.

On February 17, as part of the activities to mark the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani paid homage at the grave of the historic president Ibrahim Rugova. They expressed gratitude for his historic role on the path to the country’s independence.
