22 years since the founding of the KPC

Today marks 22 years since the founding of the KPC, where according to the Kumanovo agreement and in accordance with the Rambouillet agreement, the disarmament of Kosovo Liberation Army soldiers and its transformation into the Kosovo Protection Corps was envisaged. With the entry of NATO troops, KFOR, in Kosovo in 1999, the transformation of the KLA began, ending in 2000.

The first KPC leader was appointed Lieutenant General Agim Ceku. Under the agreement, the KPC’s duties and rights at the time were to act to prevent and reduce damage from natural disasters and accidents, to provide assistance to endangered areas, to assist in clearing minefields, to assist in reconstruction and communities. The KPC was established at the time of the beginning of the country’s institutional organization, which was happening not only in Kosovo, but also in the region, which was growing and strengthening but in poor conditions and low salaries.
