From February of this year, the application of the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccine for boys aged 11-12 will begin.
Meanwhile, 10,000 girls have been vaccinated with this vaccine, which has been applied in Kosovo since last year.
Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, stated that the start of vaccination of boys against HPV is an essential step for preserving the health of future generations.
While calling for vaccination, Vitia announced that 10,000 girls have been immunized with the HPV vaccine so far.
“A fundamental step in our fight to prevent serious diseases that affect the preservation of the health of future generations. This virus, as you know, causes many troubles and many types of cancers, and has been extremely problematic, and it is a burden for our health system. And with the introduction of this vaccine into the vaccination calendar, we have achieved that future generations will at least be safe in relation to these diseases… The HPV vaccine is not just an opportunity for girls, but also an opportunity for boys to prevent many serious diseases that this virus causes… So far, about 10 thousand girls from the target group have been vaccinated, for this reason we also recommend vaccinating boys”, said Vitia.
