The CDBK demands more frequent inspections by the Market Inspectorate

The disposal of expired goods was the main topic of the meeting between the representatives of the Chamber of Doing Business in Kosovo (CDBK) and the Chief Market Inspector, Lulzim Syla. The Chairman of the Board of the CDBK, Skender Krasniqi, demands that inspections by the Market Inspectorate be more frequent, as we have recently received numerous complaints from markets regarding the disposal of expired goods.

According to the markets, currently expired products are collected in warehouses and wait for return to the manufacturer or distributor. At the time of return of goods, there are many cases when no representatives are present, whether from the Market Inspectorate, the Sanitary Inspectorate, TAK or even the Police. Returning an expired product to the manufacturer or distributor allows for the possibility of misuse such as changing the date of the product and returning it to the market. Such an action, in addition to affecting the health of our entire society, is at the same time putting the markets in an unenviable position, as the initial suspicion of these abuses by inspectors falls on the stores and not on the manufacturer or distributor.
