President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti have appointed Petrit Ajeti director of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency. According to them, this appointment was made in accordance with the constitutional powers of the President and Prime Minister of Kosovo. For about four months the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA) remained without a director. All this after December 17, 2020, the former Prime Minister of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti fired the head of the KIA, Kreshik Gashi. This was even done with the support of Vjosa Osmani, who was the acting president.
Only after four months, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani and the Prime Minister Albin Kurti, today, April 15, have appointed Petrit Ajeti as the new head of KIA. The Law on KIA specifies that “The President of the Republic of Kosovo together with the Prime Minister, jointly appoint the Director of KIA within 20 working days from the day when the position remains vacant.”
