The Kosovo Center for the Rehabilitation of Torture Survivors (KRCT) has reacted after the police violence against the eighteen-year-old in the premises of the police station in Prishtina, requesting the Prosecution and the competent Court to act as soon as possible within the legal authority for trial and punishment the police officers featured in videos published in the media, during the ill-treatment of an eighteen-year-old at the police station in Prishtina in 2018In accordance with its mandate in the prevention of torture, protection and respect for human rights, as well as the evaluation of the behavior of the Kosovo Police in relation to detained or arrested persons, KRCT condemns the violent actions of a member of the Kosovo Police against the eighteen-year-old in the premises of the central police station in Pristina in 2018.
KRCT calls on the responsible criminal justice institutions to take concrete actions in combating the phenomenon of impunity for illegal actions of the Kosovo Police. According to this organization, the development of a fast, impartial and professional investigative procedure would affect the more effective protection of human rights and increase the credibility of citizens in law enforcement and security bodies.
