On September 26, 1998, in Upper Abri, Serbian forces carried out one of the most horrific massacres during the war in Kosovo. On this day, 23 members of the Deliu family were massacred, among them women, children and the elderly, from the age of six months to 94 years. As of September 25, the Deliu family had taken refuge in the mountains to escape Serb attacks. A day later, on September 26, around 10:00 in the morning, the Serbian infantry attacked.
After the attack, it was discovered that all the victims, children, the elderly, women and young people, had been shot in the head from close range. The bodies of those executed showed clear evidence of a massacre.
