Kosovo has not yet registered any case of monkeypox, a new disease that has affected many countries around the world, but the Infectious Diseases Clinic has already made all the preparations for the treatment of potential patients affected by this disease. The Director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic, Arben Vishaj, stated for KosovaPress that it is evident that Kosovo is endangered from this disease. Vishaj said that this disease does not spread as fast as COVID-19, therefore there are the necessary capacities to deal with this disease "We are following the situation with special attention and Kosovo is part of Europe and the possibility of arrival of patients with monkeypox is possible, for this reason the Infectious Diseases Clinic has taken all necessary measures through an action plan in case of the arrival of any eventual patient ... Although it is a new disease, but in terms of infrastructure we have a necessary infrastructure for the treatment of these patients and we are looking at the protocols and recommendations that emerge for the treatment of such patients and on the basis of the data we have, we are ready to accurately apply the protocols which are provided by the appropriate institutions ... The situation is calm in Kosovo, we do not have cases, even if we have cases, this disease does not spread quickly. Our capacities, whether infrastructural or staff, are enough to face this disease", he stressed. As a disease which is characteristic of Central African countries, infectologist Vishaj said that monkey pox endangers any age or person who has close contact with infected persons or animals.
