Twenty-six years ago, he was the first to tell the world that a crime against humanity was being committed in Recak.

Nearly three decades later, the then head of the OSCE Verification Mission in Kosovo, Ambassador William Walker, returns to the village that few people once knew.

After paying homage at the Memorial Complex, he said he was amazed by the large number of citizens paying homage at the complex.

Walker: I am astounded by the number of people I see in Recak

“Every year I am astounded by the number of people that are here from all over the country. It used to be a pretty much a Shtime generated memorial service but now there are people from all over Kosovo, and i assume there are people here from all over the world. So, thank you for covering it, and i wish you  all a happy day and I wish everyone in Kosova a happy new year”, said Ambassador Walker
