The Prime Minister of the country, Albin Kurti, in marking the Day of the Force, said that the priority of this government has been the protection and strengthening of the Kosovo Security Force.
He emphasized that compared to previous years, there has been a doubling of the number of soldiers and a tripling of the budget for defense. Meanwhile, he added that the country's Force is being continuously strengthened together with the Republic of Kosovo.
"We also congratulate the citizens of the Republic, because the army is theirs and for them. If we compare it with previous years, with our government, we have doubled the number of soldiers compared to 2021, we have tripled the defense budget for the ministry, we have quadrupled the training abroad for officers, non-commissioned officers, our military in general, our soldiers in particular, and we have multiplied the investment in armaments and ammunition. The armaments and ammunition of our army are purchased from countries that are members of NATO, and here it should be emphasized the USA, Turkey, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Croatia, there are other countries, but these are the main ones. The vast majority is purchased from the Kosovo budget, and partly it is a donation from these friendly, partner and allied countries... Our force is being constantly strengthened and with this the Republic of Kosovo is being strengthened", said Kurti.
“Today is a special day for the Kosovo Security Force, marking November 27, as the Day of the Force, which has become a tradition, which coincides with other previous activities and with the heritage that we have from the liberation war, but also the developments that we have as an army. We are also marking this day with a very important step in completing the defense and security infrastructure, that of the beginning of the military industry, which is an important component for state sustainability in terms of defense and security. In the coming days, we will communicate with all those who have shown interest in supporting this project, in order to finalize this project in a timely manner, and Kosovo to have its first ammunition production factory, a state-owned factory, as well as to have its first laboratory for the design of drones, beacuse drones are a new system that has been put into operational use in recent wars and has been extremely successful. For this, we have the support of our allies and partners and we will continue to communicate with them," said the Macedonian.
Prime Minister Kurti, at a government meeting on Wednesday, announced that he had decided to establish an inter-ministerial commission to take the first steps towards establishing the military industry.
