The consequences and impact of fake news on social networks, on young people can be much worse than people think. They are having a negative impact by expressing themselves in students as fear, frustration and anxiety.

This was said in the "Media Education against disinformation for non-majority communities in Kosovo" training.

According to the students of the "Ruzhdi Berisha" school in the Municipality of Dragash, false news is dangerous to the point where some people can do the things that have been said.

The 17-year-old from the Bosniak community, Lifa Seferi, told KosovaPress that people are easily influenced by false news, which is bringing a great danger.

“This training was important to me because it taught me many factors about things in social media that I may not have known before. Fake news on our social media can be dangerous because where we live people are easily influenced, more easily than other people, so it can really affect them badly. Dangerous to the point where some people can do the things that we mentioned, even though they are fake. Well, I saw a news a few days ago that there was a hotel where some tourists came and I searched it", she said.

Meanwhile, the other student of this school, Daniell Koska, has added that fake news is also dangerous for the elderly as they believe many things and are not smart enough to search the internet to see if they are true or false.

Koska added that at the time of COVID-19, there were many fake news in the Municipality of Dragash about the number of infections.

"From the training we learned about fake and true news, we learned that fake news is very dangerous and that we must distinguish which are dangerous and which are true. This training is very important for me so that I know how to distinguish real news from fake news and recognize intelligence, artificial intelligence in fake news. About fake news I think it is very dangerous, especially because fake news spreads to the elderly, because they can believe a lot of things, they are not resourceful enough to look up some of these things on the internet to see if they are true or false. I know there is a lot of fake news and I have seen in previous years during COVID-19 when they broadcast fake news about how many are infected. There used to be fake news in Dragash as well, but now I hope there will be no more," added Koska.

And finally, the coordinator of the lessons in the Bosnian language at the "Ruzhdi Berisha" high school, Hajret Isufi, said that social networks should be checked because it is not known who will abuse with them, to distinguish truth from falsehood.

According to him, they are very dangerous for their age as the students are afraid of any fake news.

"This training was very important because the students themselves come across different disinformation in the media and to be a little more informed, and this continues in the future for the reason that they are not misused, that someone else does not misuse them with the media. They should know more, it's normal for Facebook, Instagram and the pages that appear that they should be checked and they don't know who will abuse it, to distinguish the truth from the untruth. Yes, they are very dangerous, especially for their age, since students are very afraid of any fake news. For them it is a very sensitive topic and the consequences can be much worse than people think. Fake news affects negatively and anyone who will encounter it will lead to disappointment, fear, anxiety. Disappointment and most often anxiety comes to the students. There are many, now I would not like to list those fake news, but there are quite a few, political and other" said Isufi.
