The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (KCC) has called on the caretaker government to take urgent measures to support farmers, local producers, and processors. The KCC also requested that the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) publish the analyses of \u201cVita\u201d milk as soon as possible, in a professional and independent manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Wednesday, the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce held a meeting with the Kosovo Producers Association and local farmers, where concerns were raised regarding recent developments involving the Ministry of Agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
KCC President Lulzim Rafuna said that institutions must be careful with every statement and administrative action directed at local producers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the President of the Kosovo Producers Association, Kushtrim Ajvazi, said that they support local producers and called for reports and assessments to be based solely on legal grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs the Kosovo Producers Association, we stand with you, to hear your concerns and issues. We have closely followed your situation, and we also have some information regarding the reports being requested, and we are not against them. What we are asking for is that only those actions with a legal basis are taken, and that we jointly create a framework that does not exceed the legal competencies of the ministry and the FVA.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n We protect local producers, which is something we and consumers take pride in. Our appeal is not to harm local producers by suggesting through such topics that there is no quality production in Kosovo,\u201d <\/em>Ajvazi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The General Director of the \u201cVita\u201d dairy company, Artan Spahijaj, said that the company is open to the collection of samples and that all processes are declared in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said that on Tuesday, two inspectors collected six additional samples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOn July 7, two people came and collected six samples. We are not against sampling; we are open to it. However, on that day they only took one sample of Vita 3.2 milk.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n At 9:23, I also sent the milk collection records over the years. Our company collected 14 million litres of milk from local producers in 2023, 14 million litres in 2024, and 19 million litres in 2025.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Minister, publish the names of the farmers that I sent to you by email. In order to publish an article, you need permission from the FVA. It is not true that we are selling products that are undeclared; they have dates and the process is carried out according to the law.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Tell the public that what you said is not true. Also explain that your adviser visited the company \u2014 the cameras show that she was present,\u201d <\/em>he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Farmers present at the meeting also expressed their concerns, saying that the situation created has caused significant losses for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Farmer Fidan Krasniqi said that farmers have become the target of what he described as an unprecedented attack, adding that milk was poured out not willingly, but because they were unable to place it on the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A week ago, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Veterinary Agency inspected the Vita dairy company, following which the company\u2019s management decided to temporarily close the factory.
