The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo has expressed serious concern over what it describes as the continued lack of consideration by the acting Government of the Republic of Kosovo regarding repeated calls from the Government of the United States of America to support Kosovo\u2019s inclusion in the infrastructure and supply network of liquefied natural gas (LNG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This reaction comes after the economic affairs official at the U.S. Embassy in Pristina, Micah Savidge, said in an interview for KosovaPress that Kosovo risks losing important investment opportunities if it does not ensure a stable energy supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Savidge also spoke about the role of American LNG, the potential of lignite gasification, investments in renewable energy, and regional gas projects, stressing that Kosovo\u2019s energy future should be based on a combination of sources rather than a single technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the statement from the American Chamber, at a time when Kosovo remains heavily dependent on outdated generation capacities, large electricity imports, and an increasingly unstable regional energy market, access to American LNG represents not only an energy opportunity but also a strategic choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDiversification of energy sources, increasing supply security, and strengthening economic competitiveness must remain among Kosovo\u2019s national priorities,\u201d <\/em>the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It further notes that it is particularly concerning that all other Western Balkan countries have expressed commitment to joining the regional LNG infrastructure, which is being developed with strong support from the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cKosovo risks being left outside a regional strategic framework that is increasingly defining the future of energy security and economic development in Southeast Europe,\u201d t<\/em>he statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo also stated that the strategic partnership between Kosovo and the United States remains one of the country\u2019s most important national assets.
