The implementation of health insurance, regular supply of essential medicines, and modernization of hospitals in Pristina and Mitrovica are among the promises of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These commitments were presented at a press conference by the party leader and prime ministerial candidate, Bedri Hamza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hamza said that healthcare must be accessible to all citizens, stressing that \u201chealthcare is not a privilege, it is a right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also promised the construction of the Pristina Hospital and a new hospital in Mitrovica, as well as the creation of national emergency medical centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI will implement health insurance so that families are protected from unaffordable expenses and no one is left without treatment for financial reasons. Secondly, I will ensure a regular supply of essential medicines and free medicines for patients with chronic diseases. We will modernize existing hospitals, invest in university clinical centres, and build the Pristina hospital, including the new hospital in Mitrovica. We will create national emergency medical centres so that emergency response is faster and more efficient. We will invest in modern diagnostic technology and equipment so that citizens do not wait months for examinations. We will implement a national cancer program with early diagnosis, screening, and treatment according to European standards. We will bring healthcare closer to citizens through mobile medicine, especially in rural and highland areas,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Among other things, he also mentioned the creation of modern rehabilitation centres and long-term patient care facilities, as well as support for domestic pharmaceutical production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hamza also promised the digitalization of the healthcare system with electronic records, online appointments, and projects aimed at protecting citizens from high treatment costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When asked about the cost of implementing health insurance, Hamza said the fund would initially be supported by the state budget until corresponding funds are created through contributions from employers and workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Six days have passed since the election campaign in Kosovo began, while elections are expected to be held on 7 June.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The implementation of health insurance, regular supply of essential medicines, and modernization of hospitals in Pristina and Mitrovica are among the promises of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).
