The European Union has reacted to statements made by Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Duric, who said a few days ago that Kosovo \u201chas not been accepted and will not be accepted into the Council of Europe (CoE).\u201d The EU reminded him and the country he represents that Serbia agreed, under the Ohrid Agreement, not to oppose Kosovo\u2019s membership in the Council of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBased on Article 4 of the Ohrid Agreement, Serbia agreed not to oppose Kosovo\u2019s membership in the Council of Europe,\u201d <\/em>the EU said in a response to KosovaPress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In this context, Brussels also reminded Serbia of the condition that it must implement all agreements reached previously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe full implementation of all previous agreements, including the Ohrid Agreement, is a condition for both Kosovo and Serbia to move forward on their European paths,\u201d<\/em> the response further stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Duric said after the 135th meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, held on Friday in Chisinau, that his country had lobbied to prevent Kosovo from being admitted that day as a member of the Council of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to him, despite several European ministers publicly calling for this to happen, it did not occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGood news from Chisinau and friendly Moldova \u2013 Kosovo and Metohija will not become members of the Council of Europe today.
