The Basic Court of Prishtina has found Jelena Djukanovic guilty and sentenced her to six years in prison for the criminal offense of espionage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision was announced by Judge Rrahman Beqiri, who stated that Djukanovic was found guilty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its closing statement, the Prosecution had requested the maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the prosecution, the case is related to activities that endangered the constitutional order and state security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, the defense of the accused consistently denied the charges throughout the trial, requesting her acquittal and rejecting the prosecution\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the initial hearing in September 2025 at the Basic Court in Prishtina, Jelena Djukanovic, an official of the OSCE mission in Kosovo, pleaded not guilty to the espionage charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK) filed an indictment against her on September 2, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the indictment, Djukanovic is accused of, from an unspecified date until her arrest on February 28, 2025, while serving as a local official of the OSCE mission in Kosovo in the Regional Office in Mitrovica as a \u201cNational Program Officer,\u201d knowingly and intentionally carrying out repeated actions that constitute active assistance to the intelligence activities of the Security and Intelligence Agency of the Republic of Serbia (BIA), by providing sensitive data, documents, and information obtained during her official duties within the OSCE mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The indictment further states that she communicated extensively with Aleksandar Vlajic, a resident agent of the BIA previously convicted of espionage, and provided him with documented information directly related to Kosovo\u2019s constitutional order, institutional security, and internal activities of Kosovo institutions.
