Today, the reprint promotion of the book\u00a0“Mbrojtja e shkoll\u00ebs shqipe dhe protesta e Prishtin\u00ebs” (\u201cDefense of the Albanian School and the Prishtina Protest\u201d)<\/em>\u00a0was held, a work documenting one of the most significant events of peaceful resistance in Kosovo during the 1990s, KosovaPress reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representatives of educational institutions, deans, education veterans, school principals and teachers attended the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiator of the book\u2019s publication, Professor Sadik Krasniqi, praised the contribution of all participants involved in producing the monograph and emphasized its importance for future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Krasniqi stressed that the book was intentionally published without an author\u2019s name, as it was the result of collective work by the organizing council. He underlined that the main goal was to leave a historical testimony for future generations rather than promote individual merit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the importance of the work, Dr. Flamur Shala emphasized that the book represents a lasting historical testimony of civic organization and resistance during that period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the promotion, it was highlighted that the protest of October 12, 1992 represents a key moment in Kosovo\u2019s modern history, reflecting complete political and institutional rejection of the system of that time and marking the beginning of a new phase of resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Fetah Bylykbashi, chairman of the organizing council of the protests at the time, recalled the organization and challenges during the protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe protest had a scheduled duration of one hour, with half an hour dedicated to protesting in front of the Faculty of Philology. There, all the people\u2019s demands were presented and all the atrocities of the Serbian regime were condemned. The students carried out that duty very successfully, with chants and applause.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the first part of the protest, I received two threats from the Serbian police. The police addressed me directly, demanding that I order the crowd to disperse. My response was that we had our own program and would act according to it. Four or five minutes later, they threatened me again with the same demand, and I gave the same response.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second part involved all the protesters marching through the center of Prishtina. We held our preparation meetings at the headquarters of the Peasants\u2019 Party, and there were times when we met three times a day to ensure the protests were prepared as successfully as possible,\u201d <\/em>Bylykbashi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The book provides a broad overview of the historical, political and social circumstances of the time, addressing the role of education and Albanian-language schools in preserving national identity and organizing civic resistance.
